Trust Registrar, Accident & Emergency - UK

Medacs Healthcare is currently seeking to recruit a Trust Registrar, Accident and Emergency position for a large Trust based in Surrey.

Duties of the Post

Applicants should be dedicated to high standards in the specialty of Accident and Emergency Medicine forward as the appointee is expected to play a central part in the supervision and delivery of quality clinical care.

The post is shop floor based, with a full shift rota. The main duties of the post is the assessment and the immediate treatment of patients attending the department as well as providing supervision and support to junior staff. There will also be the opportunity to participate in the review clinic.

Teaching is a requirement of the post, as is involvement in audit and clinical governance. The unit runs very much as a team and applicants should be willing to take on an area of responsibility within this team soon after appointment. There is a weekly half day teaching programme for all middle grades as well as the opportunity to attend life support courses if required.

Research is very much encouraged and there is a Research and Development Directorate within the Trust, which administers significant research monies.
The post-holder undertakes to perform additional duties in the event of a Major Incident.

Overview of the Trust
The University Hospitals NHS Trust is a large 768 bed acute Trust. It comprises two Acute Hospitals; a dedicated Children’s Hospital, Hospital for Children; Elective Orthopaedic Centre; one supporting hospital and a Private Patient Unit and provides services from a number of support hospitals.

The Trust provides services to local communities. Within this main area the Trust provides care for approximately 500,000 people. It also provides medical care for a wider population particularly for certain specialist services, including Renal, Paediatrics, Pathology and Orthopaedics.
