Trainee Remote Support Technician

Position Overview

This position reports to the Director, Imagine Now IT, and is primarily responsible for the remote support functions of the organisation for its clients and technicians on-site.

Essential Job Functions

• Remote support for clients and on-site technician,
• Weekly checks,
• Test Restores,
• Server and Backup Log checks,
• Entering new jobs in IT Quoter as required,
• Answer phone calls and act on requests as appropriate,
• Mobile Phone and Blackberry support,
• LEAP support,
• ShadowProtect support,
• Technical hardware support,
• Workshop Jobs - Repair, upgrade and maintenance of hardware used in the office or in the course of business of the company.
• IT Disaster Recovery simulations



• Networking in Microsoft Windows Server 2000, 2003 and 2008.
• Networking with Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP; and Vista Windows 7...
• A solid understanding of the principles of Anti Virus programs (with specific skills in Trend and Symantec Antivirus products an advantage).
• A solid understanding of the principles of Backup software (with specific skills in Symantec Backup Exec an advantage).
• MSOffice, (Microsoft Word and Outlook in particular).
• Database systems (with specific skills in Microsoft Access and Microsoft SQL Server an advantage).
• Network and Internet security (with specific skills in Microsoft ISA an advantage).
• Disaster Prevention and Recovery (with specific skills in ShadowProtect an advantage).
• Microsoft Small Business Server.
• Configuring ADSL and other broadband internet connections.
• Installing and configuring software programs.
• A solid understanding of computer hardware including (but not limited to):
o Workstations and servers,
o Printers,
o Modems,
o Hubs and switches,
o Routers


To be successful in this position you will have experience in a similar role or would have undertaken preliminary T.A.F.E. courses, strong communication skills, the ability to work within a team as well as independently, and high standard of personal presentation. Problem solving skills, flexibility, initiative and a strong level of customer service skills will also ensure success.

It is expected that you:

• Will have successfully completed your School Certificate (and preferably your HSC) and
• TAFE qualification/s (Certificate 2 minimum).
• A desire to further your education in the IT field with the ongoing aim of obtaining further qualifications.
