Combined Carer & Personal Assistant/Executive Assistant Role $50,000 - $60,000 pa + extra perks

This is a highly rewarding, highly relaxing and fun All-In-One PA role working in an office based in a resort.
This is a diverse role caring for a young man in his mid-30s in a wheel chair who had a motorcycle accident and only has slight movement of his arms (not fingers or legs). The client works with his father in their printing technology business in an IT role on his laptop using a touch screen. You will be his and one other client’s Personal Assistant.
This is a job working 6 days a week, approximately 6am - 2pm for 4 days and 8am – 5pm for 2 other days. There will always be one other person at hand as support back-up.
You will mainly be working out of the client’s hotel, which features 270 degree calming panoramic views of the ocean from the 20th floor of a Resort. Your role will involve:
• Carer: gently waking the client up in the morning, giving him medication, lifting him out of his wheel chair and into the shower chair (with another person), showering and changing him, preparing him (and the other hotel resident) breakfast & lunch (which is a fresh juice using the Juicer machine), setting him up at his work desk with his work equipment and massage machine that circulates his blood flow etc (and pressing the ON button to resume the cycle every time it completes), and then concluding it at the end of the day with a lift into bed around 5pm (with another person’s help).
• Chauffeur: driving the client in his car to places such as the shops, doctor appointments, his 2nd office, and his private gym. The gym will require you attaching straps to his hand so he can pull weights (you need to be strong enough to place the weights in his hand and catch it if you need to) – he goes to the gym to circulate his blood. You will often be asked to take his car by yourself and run errands for him and another client.
• General housekeeping: keeping the client’s hotel chambers clean and tidy.
• Personal Assistant – you will assist the client to speed up his work by making phone calls (eg. appointments, orders), researching websites, typing emails and writing on skype (because he cannot type very fast due to his medical condition). You will also be a PA to the second hotel resident in carrying out any duties and tasks related to both clients’ joint work projects. This will involve activities such as IT or marketing support assistance. You may be given some small business projects to manage as Manager if you prove yourself in your role.
It will be favourable if you have any IT experience or have done any IT course covering:
- database design (PHP & MYSQL) or
- web design (Flash & Dreamweaver) or
- any experience or know-how in doing any iPhone or iPad applications
- OSX server / web server
Please NOTE: It is absolutely necessary that if you have no IT background that you are interested enough in acquiring a new IT skill and receiving easy tutorials (such as how to build a website or database) – it is imperative that you are honest with yourself so that you will last in this job.
It will be a requirement of the role that you:
- have integrity and can be trusted – that means not stealing any food, drinks or items from the client’s hotel or using his car for any other purpose than strictly work. A strong work ethics is a must.
- do not smoke
- do not do drugs
- are not an alcoholic
- do not have a criminal record
- have driving experience and are a responsible driver
- are over 18 years
- are clean and like keeping the place clean - hygiene is a must – washing your hands every single time before you give him any food or pills and all items given to him (water tubes, water glasses etc).
- are fit enough and strong enough to help the client lift weights at the gym and can help push him up the ramp into his car
- can take instructions from the other client who manages his hotel chambers and will instruct you with what the procedures are and what needs to be done. This job is not for someone who does not like keeping to a checklist of what needs to be done. You must be open-minded enough to receive feedback daily until all procedures and tasks become natural.
- Must be prepared and willing to accept any diverse work duties and tasks that are asked of you – such as mopping the floor or going shopping
- Treat all matters confidential
- Can work quietly and are not a chatterbox
- It is expected that while you will have a friendly relationship with the client and that you do not get involved in his personal and social life. It will be important that you keep a professional line.

Preference will be given to the carer who is a naturally VERY caring person with a positive attitude over an experienced person – i.e who treats others as they would like to be treated. That means you care about his welfare and exercise high standards of care and integrity in everything you do (the way you handle him, washing your hands every time you give him medication, keep an eye out if he is not feeling well, making sure he his always has water in his jug, you use your commonsense to get rid of anything you see may be causing him infections in the house etc). Preference will also be given to a healthy and fit person who has a calm peaceful and positive energy as the client only likes having healthy people around him in his hotel home.
This is a very well paid role in the heart of Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast, just a short walk to the shops and beach. This job pays around $1000 a week after tax (just a little over $1000 after tax).
The 2 key traits we are looking for are:

You must have these two traits naturally.
Key skills required are:
- Can perform Carer duties looking after a young man in mid-30s in a wheelchair and can be extremely careful and mindful about he is handled - physically and how his health is looked after (hygiene)
- Likes to keep a house clean
- Can take instructions on how to perform your job on a daily basis
- Interested in learning/acquiring an IT skill or already have a background or have done a course in multimedia development/design or database. You will be required to be an IT assistant to the client and must be interested in gaining a new IT skill or else have a background in IT.
- Are happy to make phone calls and search websites for the client
- Has a licence to drive a car and can drive around the client
- Is a healthy person with a good positive energy
- Is strong enough or fit enough to help carry 50kg weights into the client's hands at the gym
No Experience Necessary. Positive Attitude is a must.
